Iced Latte Anonymous

I need to go to Iced Latte Anonymous. I know a group like this doesn’t exist, but I would be the first to sign up if there were such a thing! I am addicted to the velvety and bitey coffee taste, with whole milk and two Splendas, please! And it has to be iced, not hot. That’s much more savory, in my honest opinion.

More seriously, we all have addictions. Co-dependence on others, drugs, alcohol, chocolate, or even iced lattes! How do we deal with this? First and foremost, we surrender them to God.

Isaiah 30:22, “Then you will destroy all your silver idols
and your precious gold images.
You will throw them out like filthy rags,
saying to them, ‘Good riddance!'” [NLT].

If our idols replace the place of God in our lives, the Lord wants to say, “Good riddance!” There are so many distractions out there from trying to have the best body, the most money, etc. But what does the Bible say about the things of this world?

“And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.”
– 1 John 2:17
[NLT].

Do the will of the Father, and you will live forever! That Iced latte can wait while I continue to serve the Lord. Or I can drink my iced latte moderately. Or I can continuously confess my sin of drinking excessive iced lattes. Sometimes the object isn’t a sin but how much we invest in it is if it disrupts our lives or wellbeing. In my case, I want to be at a healthier weight, so decreasing my iced lattes would be a good idea. It’s all about coming to Him first. He will give me a pure heart if I come to Him earnestly!

Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.” [NLT]

All you need is a “loyal spirit” connected to the Father.
