I’m going through a storm right now, but by God’s grace, I can say I’m coasting through it. By coasting, I mean I’m going through without complaining, without worrying, and without rushing God. I know God’s timing is perfect, and it’s only a matter of time before my breakthrough arrives on my doorstep.
I say this to encourage those facing hardships right now that you can have peace during storms. Peace may seem distant when we’re in a crisis, but God can give us a sense of comfort while we in a storm.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV
God will give us peace in our storms when we pray in humility, and by giving thanks, we are putting God on His rightful throne. When we say, “I got this” or “I put my trust in our earthly resources,” we are creating an idol. The reason why so many Christians live in anxiety is not so much the storm in itself, but it’s who do they turn to for help. I know Christians who trust in the government more than they trust God.
God will bring you out of a storm. Storms come and go, but God’s word will always remain. It’s possible to have joy during trials. James wouldn’t tell us to rejoice if it was.
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.”
James 1:2-4 NKJV
