Being Salt On Thanksgiving

Being Salt On Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is tomorrow for us Americans. Thanksgiving is usually either the happiest time of the year or the most miserable time of the year for many people. Thanksgiving is where families gather together for a day or two and give thanks while eating a bunch of good food. Thanksgiving is a wholesome holiday, but not everyone comes from a wholesome family. How to be salt when you’re in a salty environment?

“But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law because these are unprofitable and useless.”
– Titus 3:9 [ESV]

The quickest way to ruin your witness is by getting triggered over every little thing. We can have the attitude of “I’m right, and everyone else is heathen” or have the more gracious attitude of “I know we may not agree on everything, but we can still get along.” When you try to make peace with people who disagree with your worldview, you will have a far better chance of winning them over versus coming off as an arrogant, self-righteous jerk. It’s not always keeping your cool when dealing with toxic family members, but Jesus said we can be angry and sin not. Be known for what you are for and not what you are against.
