Ask for Wisdom

Ask for Wisdom

ask-for-wisdom

Proverbs 2:6-7 says, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright” [NIV]. If you want wisdom, ask the Lord because He not only possesses wisdom, but He is wisdom! I know what it’s like to do it in my own strength, but once I let go of human intellect, I find Heavenly wisdom that beats any worldly wisdom. He gives wisdom (which creates success) to the “upright,” according to Proverbs 2:6-7.

James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you” [NIV].

And the Lord will give it to you “without finding fault” if you ask Him. But the first step is to ask, of course. But if you are anything like me, sometimes you assume that God already knows, so there’s no need to ask or forget to. But it’s ALL about communication with your Heavenly Father.

I remember one time I asked my dad to see a movie. He knew I loved going to the theater but just the act of inquiring him thrilled and connected us in a deeper way. Of course, unlike my Heavenly Father, my earthly dad is not omniscient, so asking him creates a different door to open because he can’t read my thoughts. However, God still enjoys the camaraderie when I ask Him, even though, He already knows my thoughts. The Lord still sits with me in awe and delight as I enjoy the movie of life with Him. It all starts with querying, and asking for wisdom in particular only adds to my rapport with Him.

Here’s some wisdom from Solomon:

Ecclesiastes 7:14, “Enjoy prosperity while you can, but when hard times strike, realize that both come from God. Remember that nothing is certain in this life.” [NLT].
