Scott’s Newest Writing Project

Hey, where has Scott been lately?”

A few of you may have been wondering the above interrogative. Rest assured, I have not dropped off the map. In fact, the metaphorical map may be growing by leaps and bounds.

In the past six months, many people have seen their COVID-19-inflicted semi-lockdown as a bringer of hours of freed-up time, with some lamentably scurrying for new hobbies and (gag) new Netflix series on which to binge. For me, the bulk of 2020 has seen a decrease of spare time with an escalation of more work and volunteer duties for my local church.

Yet still, I’ve almost always found a spare half-hour or two to bust out a blog post about any subject. So why the relative inactivity?

The reason is something big.

Since I’ve amicably parted ways with Gibborim/Soulcon Ministries, I’ve felt that something is sorely lacking in men’s ministry.  In conversation with elders at my local church, they’ve in certain terms agreed that beyond a short-term book or video series, you would be hard-pressed to see a free, long-term curriculum that any men’s group, discipleship group, or church can plug into and use on a weekly or monthly basis. Something that no matter where a men’s ministry is, including varying sizes, maturity levels, and needs, can comfortably fit into face-to-face, local groups and take guys to the next level of spiritual maturity in Christ.

Yes, there are numerous men’s ministries, groups, phone apps, t-shirt companies, Facebook pages, and the like all cramming for attention, but few of them provide solid help at the local, church level, and very few that don’t charge an arm and a leg for materials, videos, and other resources.

So I feel led by God to write a full, comprehensive course for men’s ministry. Questions you may have for me such as, “how long will this take to write?”, “will it be available to all?”, “what exact topics will it cover?”, and more do not have answers at the moment. I’m taking this journey one step at a time and trusting God to carry me through the details. I just know that in the near future, something very special and exciting will come about. Stay tuned for more details…

This is wonderful. I agree that there needs to be more resources for men. I like your vision and am going to share it with my husband. I pray that the Lord bless you and your wife and your endeavors.
