We oftentimes ask God what we want but don’t get a response. God wants what’s best for us, but we have to be ready for the blessing. God doesn’t just give us what we want when we want. God prepares us for the blessing through challenges we go through in life. God has to test us to bless us. If God gave us everything we wanted when we wanted, we will become prideful.
One reason why God allows delays is to purify our motives. If our motive is selfish we will become more attached to the gift and not the giver. God has to purify our hearts for Him to prosper us.
“Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? Or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; Who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.”
Psalm 24:3-5 KJV
God uses delays to protect us from danger, we think God’s delay is a bad thing, but it’s not. God will close the wrong doors in our life, so He can open the right doors in our life. We can try to do it our way and we may succeed but will face the bitter consequences of our reward. There are so many successful people that have everything but are miserable. When God is not leading your decisions you will end up disappointed.
God will give us what we need and what we want (if our wants don’t go against His will) we just have to be patient. God’s timing is always perfect regardless of our earthly deadlines. We can’t let our own schedule or other people’s opinions rob us of what God has planned for us. When we rush God we don’t trust Him.
Wait and listen to God and He will tell you what path you should take.
“In all thy ways acknowledge him, And he shall direct thy paths.”
Proverbs 3:6 KJV
