I watched a video on Youtube from a doctor who was homeless during his teenage years. He talked about how he had to sleep outside in a tent in the middle of Winter in Buffalo, New York. What makes his story even more inspiring is that he said he didn’t want to rely on the government or foster care (he was homeless due to his parents splitting up). He was able to pull his bootstraps and get through nine years of college and become highly successful. Had he played the “woe is me” card, he probably would have never gotten out of his situation.
I bring this up because, as Christians, we like to play the victim card when we see people in the world winning but not realize that having Jesus in your life is the biggest win you’ll have on this side of eternity. We don’t have to settle for the crumbs of life when our father is the most powerful and generous being in the universe. We serve a great God in a great country. We can have earthly success and Godly success when we have the right mindset.
“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”
