I was talking to a friend on Discord and we were talking about living on your own in your twenties. I’m 25 and she’s 27, but she never lived on her own before. She stated the reason why she never really pushed herself was that she always had the comfort of her parents’ support. I told her had my mother never passed away I probably wouldn’t be as ambitious as I have been.
God takes away things that are convenient to us in order the grow us spiritually. The Lord took away all the luxuries from the Israelites so they can depend on Him. It’s easy to say we trust God when things are going well, but when things go wrong will you still trust Him? Our faith doesn’t grow when we are comfortable, our faith grows when we are uncomfortable.
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
– James 1:2-4 [NIV]
