We all should strive to be more Christ-like, but some people are more mature in their spiritual walk than others. I have been walking with The Lord for over a decade and still am growing as a believer. We know we’re not going to reach moral perfection on this Earth, but what makes an ideal Christian? What makes a Christian attractive to a non-believer?
“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.”
– 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 [NLT]
This verse above is what we want to achieve as believers. The world wants to know if we’re just all talk or do we actually live out this Bible we preach. An ideal Christian isn’t someone who knows all the answers, but it’s the Christian who walks with integrity and treats others with respect and dignity. Jesus didn’t spend time debating with non-believers on secondary issues but instead focused on being a model citizen in a pagan culture. What attracts the world to Christ isn’t what we’re against, but it’s the things we’re about that attract people. The world thinks of us as self-righteous bigots because we spend more time speaking against homosexuality and abortion than telling people how to get out of debt or start an online business. We should speak against sin when it comes up, but our main goal should be just to be a model citizen in a Godless world.
