Hustle has become synonymous with American culture. Some people live to work. While work is vital to our existence, we can’t let it control us. Work-life balance has been a discussion for many Americans in the past decade. Many people spend more time at work than they do at home, which is problematic for a wealth of different reasons. Millions of Americans are unhappy with their jobs and live paycheck to paycheck despite being one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. The “follow your passion” narrative has become very mainstream over the past five years. Following your passion sounds good on paper, but it doesn’t always lead to a life of success.

Work-life balance looks different for everyone. It’s not a “one size fits all” thing. As long as we work hard, work honestly, and know when to take breaks, we are on the right track. Enjoying our work is good, but enjoying our work and our loved ones is a Godsend. Work hard, but work smart as well. You only got one life on this Earth; make the most of it!

“So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?”
– Ecclesiastes 3:22 [NIV]
