If you want deeper impact with your men, start by going deeper with God.”
Seek God First
Men follow authenticity. A leader whose private walk fuels his public leadership sets the tone for the whole group. Jesus modeled this pattern by withdrawing to be with the Father before key moments of ministry (Mark 1:35; Luke 6:12). When a leader seeks God daily, he gains humility, discernment, and courage. That is the kind of life men can trust and imitate.
Simple practice: Block 20–30 minutes each morning for unhurried time with God. Read. Pray. Sit in silence. Ask the Lord, “What are You saying, and how do You want me to obey today?”
Read the Bible More
Depth comes from Scripture saturation. Paul told Timothy to “preach the Word” and to be ready in every season (2 Timothy 4:2). When a leader soaks in the Word, it naturally shows up in teaching, counsel, confrontation, and encouragement. The men begin to rely on God’s truth instead of quick fixes.
- Plan: Read one Gospel slowly each month. Add one Psalm per day. Keep a running list of truths to share with your men.
- Multiply: Model how to read and apply the text. Invite two or three men to read the same passage during the week and discuss it together.
Pray More
Prayer is the power source and the steering wheel. It keeps the leader dependent on God and invites the Spirit to do what strategies cannot. Scripture calls us to pray “at all times in the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:18) and to ask for wisdom generously given by God (James 1:5).
- Intercede by name: Keep a list. Pray short, specific prayers for each man’s next step.
- Pray in meetings: Open and close every gathering in prayer. Pause mid-discussion to ask the Lord for direction.
- Tell the stories: Share answered prayers often. Testimony builds faith and expectancy.
The Ripple Effect
When a leader seeks God, lives in the Word, and prays, several things happen:
- Teaching gains weight: The truth comes with clarity and conviction (Hebrews 4:12).
- Relationships deepen: Patience and wisdom grow, and conflict is handled with grace (Galatians 5:22–23).
- Direction clarifies: The ministry becomes Spirit-led rather than trend-led (Proverbs 3:5–6).
- Example multiplies: “Follow me as I follow Christ” turns from a verse into a lifestyle (1 Corinthians 11:1).
Next Steps for the Next 30 Days
- Daily Seek: Calendar 20–30 minutes with God. Guard it like a meeting with your boss.
- Daily Scripture: Read one chapter from a Gospel and one Psalm. Write one sentence of application.
- Daily Prayer: Pray by name for three men. Send one short text of encouragement or Scripture.
- Weekly Table: Meet with two men to discuss what you read and how you obeyed.
- Monthly Story: Share one answered prayer or transformation story with the whole group.
Real growth in men’s ministry does not start with more activity. It starts with a leader who walks closely with God. Get back to the basics and watch God deepen your life and the lives of the men you serve.
